Arrival & Departure Procedures
Dear Parents,
I would ask for your assistance in maintaining a safe and efficient system for dropping off and picking up students in the morning and at dismissal time. To that end, we would ask that parents adhere to the following guidelines for the safety of all students and staff:
- Do not pull into the parking lot to drop off passengers as it poses a safety hazard for those students and staff members who are actively parking their cars.
- Keep up with the car ahead of you; utilize the entire driveway across the front of the building.
- Avoid stopping at one of the entrances so you can maintain the flow of traffic. It is important to keep the queue moving, so please pull up to the car in front of you before you stop to let your passengers out.
- The door 45 (nearest to the gym entrance), door 1E (front entrance) and door 13 (stairwell back of building adjacent to T3) accommodate students arrival and entrance to the building. The distance between the two front entrances is relatively short, so encourage your passengers to walk – it’s great exercise!
- If your child has their permit and you have allowed him/her to drive your car to school, please pull up past the auditorium when you switch seats and move into the driver's position after your student exits the vehicle so you don't hold the line up.
- After drop off, move into the left lane to make a quick exit.
- Pedestrians always have the right of way when they are using the crosswalk.
- Students who are driving are not permitted in the driveway upon dismissal to pick up passengers.
- Staff and students should exit the parking lot using the southern exit only.
Please remember that all numbered parking spots are assigned to staff members and senior students. Visitors are required to park in designated visitor spots located in the openings of the front row. Numbered parking spots should not be used by visitors between 7:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Our building opens at 7:00 a.m. for student arrival. Students may report to the cafeteria where they can purchase breakfast or the library for quiet study and reading. I appreciate all your efforts in assisting us to expedite the safe arrival and departure for our students and staff.
Sincerely,
John P. Pascale, Principal
