G S A Genders & Sexualities Alliance
Overview-Genders & Sexualities Alliance
Description:
Genders and Sexualities Alliances are student organizations which provide a safe and supportive environment for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender, and queer youth and their straight allies. Gay-straight alliances are aimed at making schools a safe place for all students, no matter their sexual orientation or identity. Activities include nationally run campaigns to raise awareness, such as the Day of Silence, Ally Week, or No Name Calling Week. Members of the GSA include LGBTQ+ students as well as students who may have a gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender or queer family member, relative, or friend.
The MHS GSA is a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender non-conforming teens and their allies. The goals of the GSA are to build community, learn more about LGBTQ+ issues, educate the school community, celebrate diversity, and erase intolerance.
